6 Home Safety Tips
We at Firefighter Handyman think it’s important to ensure everyone’s home is safe as possible, so here are a few simple tips to help you raise safety levels for you and your family.
Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Yes, the dog tends to run and hide, but this extremely important.
Close your doors at night. Fire can spread fast and keeping you bedroom doors closed at night slows the spread and gives you a significant amount of time to react to the smoke alarm.
Make sure your house numbers are visible from the street. Seconds count when Police, Fire or EMS are needed. Take the guessing work out of their hands by having large numbers that are well lit.
Clear a pathway! Many homes block or barricade residents from exits. Remove the clutter so you have a path out the nearest exit.
Extinguishers work. Having an extinguisher on all levels of you home and in the garage may prevent a fire from spreading and minimize damage.
Have a safety assessment. Several companies will come and review your home to give you suggestions on how to keep your home safe.
At Firefighter Handyman, we offer all our clients a safety assessment as part of our services. Request one HERE.
